Background:
Pursuant to Business License Ordinance 5.14.070, an application for a Fortunetelling Business License must be authorized by the Board of Supervisors. Applicant Katherine Merino has completed an application for a Fortunetelling / Psychic business in Placerville. At this time, one other business license for fortunetelling is active in the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County, located in El Dorado Hills.
Reason for Recommendation:
Katherine Merino, dba Psychic Readings by Janet, made application for a Business License as a Fortuneteller. Under El Dorado County Code Section 5.14.070, authorization by the Board of Supervisors is required prior to issuing the license. The Sheriff has filed a written report, stating that he does not object to the issuance of the Business License for Katherine Merino.
The Tax Collector's Office has reviewed the application and the Sheriff's recommendation, and does not object to the issuance of the license.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
Issue a Fortunetelling Business License to Katherine Merino.
