Title
Transportation Department providing update to the Board with regard to contract processes. (Cont'd. 3/20/07, Item 29)

Body
Background:

On December 12, 2006, the Department of Transportation proposed Agenda Item #52 to retroactively increase Agreement #05-838 with Republic Electric for maintenance and repair of traffic signals and associated equipment.  The Board approved the item and directed staff to report back to the Board on February 27, 2007 with a process evaluation.

On February 11, 2007, the Department of Transportation proposed Agenda Item #11 amending an agreement with Fehr & Peers Associates.  The Board approved the item and directed staff to return to the Board on March 6, 2007 with an explanation of the processes pertaining to Public Works contracting.

At the March 6, 2007 Board Meeting, the Transportation Department presented the DOT Contract Process Report.  Due to the volume of material to digest and the unfortunate lateness of the submittal, it was proposed that DOT would return to discuss the material with your Board at the March 20, 2007 meeting.

At the March 20, 2007 Board Meeting, the contract status item was again continued to the April 17, 2007 Meeting.

At the March 27, 2007 Board Meeting, the Board approved interim Task Order protocols.

Consistent with previous discussions regarding the contract selection process the Department of Transportation recommends the Board take the following actions:

  1) Receive and file this Contract Status Report.
  2) Authorize the Department to negotiate new planning and design contracts with:
        a) DMJM Harris for the Cameron Park Blvd. Interchange
        b) Quincy Engineering, Inc. for the El Dorado Hills Blvd. Interchange and Highway 50 HOV / Mainline Lanes.
        c) TY Lin International for the Bass Lake Road Interchange.
        d) David Evans & Associates for the Ponderosa Road Interchange
