Supervisors Baumann and Sweeney requesting discussion regarding the management and operation of the El Dorado County Veterans Memorial Monument.

There appears to be dialogue between the "Friends of the Veterans Memorial Monument" and various county staff and the Veterans Affairs Commission regarding the management and operation of the new memorial.
 
The proposal by the "Friends" for them to manage and operate the monument seems to be contrary to customary management and operations of other facilities located on county owned property.  Due to our liability and responsibility, it seems important that this facility be managed by a department that is germane to the facility which would be the Veterans Service Officer with policies provided by advice from the Veterans Affairs Commission to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.  Further, the facility would be maintained, as all other county facilities, through the Department of General Services.
 
Until such time as this matter can properly come before the Veterans Affairs Commission for discussion and possible recommendations, the above paragraph should serve as direction to staff.
