Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The Net County Cost may increase by approximately $5,000 in the 2007/08 budget proposal that will be submitted to the CAO on April 2, 2007.

Background:
El Dorado County implemented the JJCPA program known as CART on March 26, 2001. The Program, now nearly six years in operation, is funded through June 30, 2007. The program continues to be very well received by all of our community partners, including the West Slope High Schools and South Tahoe High School benefiting from our Probation Officers on campus. We are currently serving eleven high schools with six full-time Probation Officers, one Supervising Probation Officer, and one half-time Legal Secretary.

Reason for Recommendation:

Among other provisions, the bill required the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council (JJCC) to review and/or modify the Comprehensive Multiagency Juvenile Justice Plan (CMJJP) annually. The JJCC reconvened on March 20, 2007 for this purpose, and reaffirmed its desire to fund the CART program with these JJCPA funds allocated to El Dorado County to continue funding the CART program for fiscal year 2007/08.
