Title: Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, recommending findings be made that it is more economical and feasible to contract out for road material hauling services for the West Slope in accordance with County Ordinance 3.13, Section 3.13.030; award Bid 07-961-107; and authorize the Department of Transportation to return to the Board for approval and execution of a one year agreement with Empire Trucking Inc. of Sacramento, CA in an amount not to exceed $175,000 for a twelve month period for same upon approval by County Counsel and Risk Management. REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION:  At the request of the Department of Transportation, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued an Invitation to Bid for road material hauling services.  The hauling services are for the provision of transporting road materials from the point of purchase to a designated stock pile or work-site where road maintenance is being performed on the west slope.
 
Five (5) Invitations to Bid were mailed to local vendors.  Three (3) qualified bid responses were received, one (1) from a local vendor.  The bid results are provided on the attached spreadsheet.
 
FISCAL IMPACT/CHANGE TO NET COUNTY COST:  Procurement & Contracts has been advised that funding is available within the Department of Transportation's Road Fund.
 
ACTION TO BE TAKEN FOLLOWING APPROVAL:  Following Board approval, the Department of Transportation will bring back to your Board for approval, and execution an agreement for services with Empire Trucking Inc. of Sacramento, CA for Hauling Services in the amount of $175,000.
