Reason for Recommendation:
The Chief Administrative Officer wishes to appoint Sam Driggers to the position of Economic Development Coordinator.
Mr. Driggers has 13 years experience in economic and business development in both the public and private sectors. In various capacities, he has developed strategic plans for cities and for a railway. He also has extensive experience in business attraction, including the biotech, medical, technology, and manufacturing sectors. Mr. Driggers is currently the Director of Business and Economic Development for the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, where he has established economic development and small business assistance programs and maintained a number of feedback programs for its members.
Mr. Driggers has earned a Masters Degree in International Policy Studies with an emphasis in Marketing and Trade from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. He is pursuing the Certified Economic Developer certification from the International Economic Development Council.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Department to make an offer of employment for an Economic Development Coordinator at step 4.
