Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Funding for the project is included in the FY 06/07 Georgetown Airport Budget. The Federal Aviation Administration will fund $185,291 through FAA Grant # 03-06-0093-06 and $22,735.25 through FAA Grant # 03-06-0093-07. The remaining 5%, or $10,948.75 is requested from General Fund contingency.

Background: A security fence is necessary at the Georgetown Airport to prevent wildlife from straying onto the runway. The project was identified as a safety issue in the Georgetown Airport five-year Capital Improvement Plan and the Georgetown Airport Layout and was subsequently approved for federal funding.

Reason for Recommendation: On January 9, 2007, Item 29, the board approved Bid Document 07-968-091, Georgetown Airport Security Fencing and Gates and Serviceszed General Services to advertise for construction bids for the project.
