Treasurer/Tax Collector's Office recommending the Board authorize the issuance of a business license to Timothy Amos Lee, doing business as El Dorado County Psychic, operating a fortunetelling/psychic reading business in the Placerville area pursuant to El Dorado County Ordinance Code, Title 5, Section 5.14.070, Business Taxes, Licenses and Regulations - no license may be issued without the express authorization of the Board.

DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION:

Timothy Amos Lee, doing business as El Dorado County Psychic, has made application for a business license as a psychic.  After reviewing the itinerant business license application and the Sheriff's recommendation, the Treasurer/Tax Collector does not object to the issuance of the business license.

 

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

Pursuant to El Dorado County Ordinance Code, Title 5, Section 5.14.070, Business Taxes, Licenses and Regulations, no license may be issued without the express authorization of the Board of Supervisors  Currently, there are three active business licenses for fortunetelling / psychic reading in the unincorporated areas of El Dorado County.  The board may limit the number of licenses issued to such number as in its judgment will serve the public health, safety and welfare.

 

ALTERNATIVES:

The Board may decide not to authorize.

 

OTHER DEPARTMENT/AGENCY INVOLVEMENT:

The Sheriff's Office recommends issuing the license.  Applicant has submitted finger prints, cleared by the Department of Justice and the Sheriff's department, pursuant to county ordinance 5.14.070 and ordinance 3737 5 1987, Ord. 3515 12(part), 1985  (Memorandum from the Sheriff's office is attached to file)

 

CAO RECOMMENDATION:

Approve department recommendation.

 

CLERK OF THE BOARD FOLLOW UP ACTIONS:

Upon Board approval, the Clerk of the Board shall notify the Sheriff's Office and the Treasurer/Tax Collector's department.
