Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding is available from Federal Workforce Investment Act funds within the Human Services Department budget for the Memorandum of Understanding with the UCCE to provide funding for the training requirements. No change to Net County Cost.

Background:
On March 14, 2007 the Purchasing Agent executed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Department of Human Servies and the University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) to provide funding for the El Dorado County youth Commission, under the direction of UCCE, to conduct training sessions at the Job One OneStop locations in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. The purpose of the training sessions is to educate youth involved in the WIA Workforce Development Program about career possibilities using Geographic Position Systems (GPS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping. The sessions will provide hands on training and education on how GPS and GIS mapping systems work and function, and a demonstration of the skills required in utilizing these systems.


Reason for Recommendation:
In order to conduct the training sessions UCCE must purchase GPS units for use by the Youth Commission members. The MOU provides $6,000 for the purchase of two GPS units and a budget transfer is neces...
