Transportation Department recommending the following pertaining to the Asphalt Concrete Overlay of El Dorado Hills Boulevard PW 06-148:

2) Approve the contract documents; and
3) Authorize advertisement for construction bids.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.
Body
The Engineer's estimate for the construction phase of the project is $535,000. The project will be funded with Federal Urban RSTIP funds of $317,900, Prop 42 Congestion Relief funds of $83,000 with the remaining portion of $134,100 funded with RSTP Exchange funds.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:

There is no cost to the County General Fund.

Reason for Recommendation:

Each construction season, as funds permit, the County advances pavement overlay projects. Specific locations are selected based on factors such as pavement condition and traffic volumes. County DOT crews complete the repair work necessary to prepare the selected streets for the overlay placement. A contractor is selected through a competitive bid process who then completes the overlay work.

El Dorado County was able to compete for and secure Urban RSTP funds to overlay of a portion of El Dorado Hills Boulevard from the Serrano Parkway/Lassen Lane intersection to the south toward the Park Avenue/Saratoga intersection. The subject item will approve the contract documents for this work and authorize the advertizement for construction bids.
