Chief Administrative Office recommending the Board of Supervisors adopt the Final Draft Response to the 2006-07 Grand Jury Second Mid-term Report and authorize submittal of the Response to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court.

Background: On April 17 the Board of Supervisors received and filed the Initial Draft Response to the 2006-07 Grand Jury Second Mid-term Report. No changes were requested for the Final Draft Response. The Final Draft Response must be received by the judge no later than June 4, 2007.
Reason for Recommendation: County Policy A-11, "Responding to Grand Jury Reports" requires the CAO to maintain copies of the response for public viewing, and to distribute copies to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court, the current Grand Jury, all affected departments, and all branches of the county library. In addition, Policy B-10 requires that the response be published in a tabloid format in newspapers with major circulation within the county. When the County's Final Response to the Grand Jury's Final Report is adopted, all reports and responses for the 2006-07 Fiscal Year will be published in tabloid format.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
1. The CAO will submit the Final Draft Response to the Supervising Judge; and
2. Publicize and distribute the Final Response in accordance with county Policies A-11 and B-10.
