Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There is no cost to the General Fund and no matching contribution is required for this grant. The estimated total grant dollar amount for FY 07/08 is $46,978. If approved by the California Integrated Waste Management Board, the Department will bring back the appropriate budget adjustments.

Background: Recycling used oil has become a concern in the State of California. The California Environmental Protection Agency, California Integrated Waste Management Board will provide financial support for the Used Oil Recycling Block Grant for FY 07/08 to assist in providing opportunities for the collection and recycling of used oil.

Reason for Recommendation: The purpose of this grant is to provide opportunities for the recycling of used oil. This grant assists local governments with establishing or enhancing permanent, sustainable used oil, and oil filter collection programs by providing non-competitive funds calculated by a population-based formula.
