Background: For many years, the El Dorado County District Attorney was the receipient of the Anti-Drug Abuse Grant for the County of El Dorado. This grant was used to fund various aspects of a multi-jurisdictional task force in South Lake Tahoe. When the application for the FY2006/07 grant became available, the District Attorney advised the Sheriff that they would no longer be participating in this program. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department funds 2.0 FTE positions with this grant and has requested to take over the responsibility of submitting the application and administrating the grant.
Reason for Recommendation: When the South Lake Tahoe Police Department received the grant award documentation directly from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services in November 2006, they were not aware that your Board needed to officially accept the grant on behalf of the County of El Dorado and approve the appropriations within the Sheriff's budget.
We are therefore requesting a retroactive approval for the period covering 07/01/06 through 06/30/07.
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Auditor will post the attached budget transfer.
