Chief Administrative Office recommending that the effective date of the FY 2007-08 Health Benefit rate schedule be changed from July 1, 2007 to either June 23, 2007 (pay period 14) for those employees that receive optional benefit credits, or July 7, 2007 (pay period 15) for those employees that do not receive optional benefit credits.

Background:
At its May 1, 2007 meeting (Agenda Item #35), the Board of Supervisors adopted the schedule of health insurance rates for FY 2007-08. The schedules indicate that the effective date of the new schedule is July 1, 2007.
Reason for Recommendation:
The effective date of July 1, 2007 falls in the middle of pay period 14. In prior fiscal years, the schedule contained a footnote that provided effective dates that were dependent upon employees' participation in the optional benefits plan. That footnote was inadvertently omitted from the FY 2007-08 schedule.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
The Auditor-Controller's Office will implement the approved changes at the appropriate dates.
