Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The base rate of the CFMG contract for the two jails is $2,035,201 and for the two juvenile detention facilities is $388,572 for a total of $2,423,773 in FY 07/08. Should the jails or juvenile detention facilities combined quarterly inmate population exceed 426, an additional per diem charge is paid to CFMG. This funding is provided by General Fund Department 15 and Sheriff's Department, and has been placed in the County's pending FY 07/08 budget.

Background: El Dorado County has maintained a successful contractual relationship with CFMG, beginning January 1, 1996, to provide jail medical/mental health services in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe. The current contract expires June 30, 2007. On February 13, 2007, the Department requested guidance with regard to the provision of medical services at the County's detention facilities. Due to the lack of qualified vendors available to provide these services, and given the positive relationship with CFMG, the Board authorized development of a multi-year contract with the vendor.

The new contract, similar to the current contract, will be administered by the Public Health Department in conjunction with the Sheriff, Probation, and Mental Health.
