Background:
On May 22, 2007 (Item #50) the Board considered but did not adopt Resolution 101-2007 to increase building permit fees, directed staff to begin the process for layoffs and directed staff to form a development oversight committee to include users to work with the Department to find fee solutions and reduce process time.
Reason for Recommendation:
Pursuant to Board direction on May 22, 2007 Department staff is meeting with building industry representatives to identify opportunities for building review process improvements, appropriate staffing levels for the Building Services Division and possible permit fee adjustments that could facilitate improved services. The Department will present the results of those collaborative efforts and any recommended permit fee adjustments to the Board on June 5, 2007.
