University of California Cooperative Extension Department recommending Chief Administrative Officer be authorized to sign amendment 06 to Independent Contractor Agreement No. C01-01622X with The Regents of the University of California, on behalf of the Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources, in the amount of $34,150 for the term July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 to provide one half of the salary and benefits for said Department's 4-H Program Representative.

Background:
Funds for payment to the University of California for one half of the U.C. Cooperative Extension 4-H Program Representative's salary and benefits were approved by the BOS during budget hearings for FY 06-07 and have been included and submitted in our FY 07-08 budget request. This business agreement provides one half of the salary and benefits for our 4-H Program Representative for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
Reason for Recommendation:
This position is vital to our youth development programs including 4-H and Youth Commission programs. This 50/50 match between the County and U.C. Cooperative extension will continue to provide the position needed to continue and expand our excellent programs.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
The Chief Administrative Officer to sign Amendment 6 to the University of California Business Agreement No. C01-01622X. Two original copies: keep one signed copy and return other signed copy to UCCE department attention Nancy Starr.
