Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No change in Net County Cost.

Reason for Recommendation: Due to the volume of CDs burned and distributed, the Information Technologies Department has a need to upgrade its CD burner equipment. The upgraded equipment will burn DVDs as well as CDs. The Purchasing Agent has dispensed with competitive bidding in accordance with County Ordinance Chapter 3.12, Section 3.12.160B for the purchase of the new equipment. The equipment is being purchased directly form the manufacturer. The manufacturer does have other authorized resellers; however, no other reseller offers a trade-in allowance on the older equipment.

The cost of the Fusion 4x DVD/CD burner, with the trade-in allowance of $3,000.00 on the old equipment, is $7,719.93, including sales tax. While the Purchase is within the Purchasing Agent's signature authority, County Ordinance requires that the Board approve the surplus of all personal property tagged as a fixed asset.
