Background: The West Slope Animal Shelter has progressed to the stage of building design. The Board has expressed an interest in reviewing the preliminary design together with alternative methods of building construction.
 
General Services Department providing the Board with an update and review of  the design and construction options available for the West Slope Animal Shelter.  This will include a review of the proposed floorplan together with information relating to alternative methods of building construction.  Comparisons will be made relative to functionality and construction costs of conventional stick framed structures with those of concrete and steel.
 
Based on the information available, it is the recommendation of General Services that the final building design consist of a concrete (tilt-up) building.    
 
RECOMMENDED ACTION:  Receive and file with Board direction on preferred method of building construction.
