Title: General Services Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Lease Agreement 033-L0811 with Peggy A. Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The Mental Health Department has advised General Services that MHSA and MediCal funding, included in its FY 2007-08 Proposed Budget, will pay this rental cost.

Background: The County of El Dorado has leased space for the Mental Health Department since 1996. The Mental Health Department has continued to grow throughout these years.

Reason for Recommendation: The Mental Health Department’s programs for seriously mentally ill individuals (Prospect Place for homeless mentally ill clients; day rehabilitation for chronic, persistently ill people; and Oasis for consumer-driven client support) currently occupy 5,170 square feet of leased office and clinic space in Suites B, C and D at 2808 Mallard Lane. These programs have experienced a significant expansion of services over the last two and a half years due to new funding provided by the Mental Health Services Act. Specifically, the increased number of new clients, clinicians and support staff has dramatically outgrown the current space to the extent that many staff now share small offices and there is simply no more room to expand.
