Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:The total funding for this agreement is $59,250 for the one year contract. There is no Change to Net County Cost. The contract will be funded with MIOCR dollars as long as they remain available. Should the State not fund the MIOCR program in FY 07/08, the Department can and will use deferred MHSA dollars to fund this contract.

Background: The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office was successful in its application for a grant under the Mentally Ill Offenders Crime Reduction (MIOCR) grant program from the State’s Corrections Standards Authority. The goal of this program is to reduce recidivism by improving the mental health of incarcerated offenders through linkage to mental health services and other community services. A significant part of this program is an effort to assist program participants in finding employment.

Reason for Recommendation:This agreement will provide assistance in seeking and maintaining employment for those mentally ill offenders who qualify. Crossroads will provide services including vocational assessments, job seeking skills workshops, job development, and post employment support. This agreement will cover the period July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
