REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION: At the request of the Environmental Management Department, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued a Request for Qualifications and Statement of Interest (RFQ) for the purpose of hiring multiple contractors to provide construction maintenance of the Union Mine Disposal Site on an "as needed" basis.

Nine (9) Requests for Qualifications and Statements of Interests were mailed; all to local vendors; five (5) responses were received. Those that responded were:

Thunder Mountain Enterprises
Macauley Construction
Diamond Crane Company
Joe Vicini, Inc.
Doug Veerkamp General Engineering, Inc.

An evaluation committee comprised of panelists from the Environmental Management and the Highway Maintenance Division of the Department of Transportation reviewed responses on the basis of each contractor's experience with landfill maintenance, construction equipment available to perform the needed work, and the ability to perform the maintenance work identified in the RFQ.
