Background:
El Dorado County entered into a short-term lease for the El Dorado Hills Fire District facility on May 1, 2005, authorized negotiations for a long-term lease or purchase on February 28, 2006 and subsequently approved the purchase of this facility on May 15, 2007. Human Services had initiated the remodeling and renovation of the facility, using a combination of one-time grant funds and an allocation from the Countys Community Enhancement funds, to accommodate provision of senior services in the El Dorado Hills area. Senior Nutrition commenced operations at the new El Dorado Hills Senior Center on June 30, 2006, and renovations are in process for that portion of the facility that will house Senior Day Care. Senior Nutrition participation at the new site has been even greater than expected, and it is anticipated that Senior Day Care services will be equally welcomed, providing options for residents of the westernmost portions of the County.

Reason for Recommendation:
