Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, recommending the Board (1) declare as surplus three (3) Global Positioning System Units in accordance with County Ordinance Chapter 3.12.200; and (2) authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase order to California Surveying and Drafting Supply, Inc. in the amount of $23,355.49 with the trade-in allowance of the surplus property towards the purchase of three (3) replacement Global Positioning System Units, in accordance with County Ordinance Chapter Section 3.12.070F, for the Agriculture Department.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

Reason for Recommendation: The Agriculture Department has three (3) GPS units that are obsolete and in need of replacement. The Purchasing Agent has dispensed with competitive bidding in accordance with County Ordinance Chapter 3.12, Section 3.12.160B for the purchase of the new equipment. California Surveying and Drafting Supply, Inc. is the only authorized dealer for Trimble Mapping/GIS solutions in Northern California.
The cost of the new Global Positioning Units, with the trade-in allowance of $2,2250.00 on the old equipment, is $23,355.49, including sales tax. While the Purchase is within the Purchasing Agent's signature authority, County Ordinance requires that the Board approve the surplus of all personal property tagged as a fixed asset.
