Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. The Sheriff's FY07/08 operating budget contains funding for this agreement.
Background: Whenever the Coroner's Section of the Sheriff's Office deals with a homicide, a suspicious death or a death from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) an autopsy must be conducted by a certified forensic pathologist in order to have credible evidence for a court proceeding or to comply with State protocols. There are no certified forensic pathologists in El Dorado county and the Sheriff's Office has historically contracted with Sacramento County for these services.
Reason for Recommendation: The current contract expired on 06/30/2007.
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Chair will sign the agreement.
