Background: An extreme wild land fire had been burning out of control in South Lake Tahoe from June 24 - July 3, 2007. Approximately 250 homes, and 2500 acres had been consumed by the fire before containment.

We received a Gubernatorial and Presidential Declaration of a State of Emergency which qualified us to receive disaster assistance funding.

Reason for Recommendation: This is a continuation of a Local Emergency Declaration that was declared by the Chairman of the Board on June 24, 2007.  Local State of Emergency has to be declared first before seeking a State and Presidential Declaration, and has to continue until emergency measures for debris removal, erosion control and other public safety issues have been addressed.

Action to be taken following Board approval: Resolution will be on file at the County, and forwarded to State Office of Emergency Services if needed.
