Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The Probation Department's proposed budget for 2007/08 contains funds for this agreement, therefore there is no effect on Net County Cost as a result of this Board action.

Background:
Anticipation of future use is always difficult as juvenile ranch/camp commitments are court-ordered on an as-needed basis. At this time, the Probation Department does not see any imminent juvenile commitments at this facility.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Probation Department contracts with multiple juvenile detention facilities for the court ordered placement of minors. Judges of the Courts determine on an as needed basis when and where court wards will be placed for long-term confinement and treatment. As a result, the department must have contracts in place with each facility.

The County Officer or employee with responsibility for administering this agreement is Joseph S. Warchol II, Chief Probation Officer, Probation Department.
