Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. The Sheriff anticipates salary savings from vacant positions to cover this increased cost.
Background: The Board approved the addition of 1.0 FTE Sergeant classification, effective 04/01/2008, for the Sheriff's FY07/08 budget.
Reason for Recommendation: The Sheriff currently has a 1.0 FTE Sergeant vacancy; however, due to accelerated staffing needs and the immediate availability of two qualified and desirable candidates, the Sheriff's Office is requesting Board approval to fill the newly allocated position planned for April 2008 immediately.
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Sheriff's department will submit a personnel requisition to Human Resources and proceed with the promotion of 2.0 FTE Deputy II to the classification of Sergeant.
