Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There will be no change to Net County Cost. The departments have identified savings in other line items to cover the additional membership costs.

Background: Departments are required to submit annual line item requests for membership dues during the annual budget process. Invoices are checked against this line item detail when submitted to the Auditor's office for payment. In the past, if the payment exceeded the line item amount identified in the budget, the department had to identify funding to cover the overage and seek approval from the Chief Administrative Office before submitting the increased membership invoice to the Auditor's office. Currently, the Auditor's office is requesting that these increased memberships be presented to the Board of Supervisors for approval of payment.

Reason for Recommendation: The Chief Administrative Office budgeted $1200 for the annual International City/County Management Association membership for Laura Gill. The actual cost of the 2007-08 membership is $1400. Savings have been identified to cover the $200 increase. Child Support Services budgeted $9,685 for the annual Child Support Directors Association Assessment for Laura Roth. The actual cost of the 2007-08 Assessment is $10,015. The department has identified savings to cover the $330 increase.
