Background:
The Library received a $7,000 grant from First 5 El Dorado in 2006/2007 to provide a series of library programs that emphasized the importance of reading to young children.  This contract is an expansion of that initial program and will provide $55,200 for staffing and $37,120 for books, supplies and other expenses to greatly enhance the library services provided to young children and their families.   This program specifically targets services on the Western Slope, therefore the programs will be held at the Main Library, Cameron Park Library, El Dorado Hills Library and a reduced program at the Pollock Pines Library.  Additional services will be provided as library outreach to doctor's offices, clinics, daycare centers, preschools and other locations that serve children 0 to 5 years old.
