The El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC) conducted a study in collaboration with the El Dorado County Department of Transportation (DOT) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) to identify relatively lower cost, near-term strategies to improve safety and operations on U.S. Highway 50 and the surrounding Camino area. The purpose of the report was to discuss the issues related to each alternative presented, not to identify preferred strategies. To identify possible safety improvements, EDCTC analyzed accident data, utilized information from prior studies, performed field observations and gathered stakeholder input to target near-term solutions.
