Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding for this amendment will be available in the FY 2007-2008 CSA #10 budget final budget. There is no cost to the General Fund.

Background:
On May 15th, 2007, the Board of Supervisors authorized the Chairman to sign Contract # 038-C-06/07-BOS with Carlton Engineering to provide construction quality assurance services to satisfy the final closure requirements for the Union Mine Landfill specified by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board in their Waste Discharge Requirements Order No. R5-2006-0020.

Reason for Recommendation:
This First Amendment provides for an increase to compensation of $1,175.00 and a total contract amount not to exceed $77,550.00. This increase is related to additional quality assurance testing required for the placement of geotextile material. An increase in the use of geotextile material was required to construct the final cover upon discovery of excess jagged rock in the landfill subgrade.

In accordance with Board of Supervisors Policy C-17, Section 7.4.2., the Purchasing Agent concurs with the department's request to amend this agreement. The Purchasing Agent has determined that it is appropriate to amend the agreement versus initiating a new one based on the department's reason for recommendation stated hereinabove.
