Reason for Recommendation: On September 12, 2006, item #35, your Board approved the award of Bid #07-393-010 for various food products and kitchen supplies for use county wide and authorized the Purchasing Agent to issue four blanket purchase orders as follows: Strauss Foodservice of Placerville in the amount of $250,000, US FoodService of Reno in the amount of $225,000, Francis Distributing of Diamond Springs in the amount of $15,000, and Crystal Dairy Foods of South Lake Tahoe in the amount of $10,000.

Board of Supervisors Policy C-17, 5.9 (f), allows the Purchasing Agent to extend a contract award from the previous contract period provided that the vendor agrees to provide the item(s) at the same price and under the same terms and conditions as the previous award. These extensions allow the County to take advantage of the prior year low bid pricing.
