Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  
 
Background: The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors approved the County's economic development strategy on October 2, 2007.  The Board of Supervisors also directed the Economic Development Coordinator to return with recommendations on how to improve the County's processes in order to be more business friendly.  It was requested that a report be made to the Board at its Tuesday, January 29, 2008 board meeting regarding ordinances, zoning, General Plan amendments etc.   The Board also requested that areas for process improvement to enhance economic development activity be identified.
 
Reason for Recommendation: To improve the competitiveness of El Dorado County and its ability to attract and retain businesses and industries, job opportunities for its citizens, and expand the community's economic base.
 
Action to be taken following Board approval: Motion to receive and file.  To implement "Permit Caseworker" position in 08-09 budget.
