Treasurer-Tax Collector recommending the Board authorize the transfer of unclaimed trust funds in the amount of $31,938.35 to the General Fund and $5,421.88 to the District Attorney's Victim/Witness Assistance Program, and a reimbursement for publication and administrative costs of $4,067.00 to the Treasurer-Tax Collector.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:  Approve.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  The General Fund will benefit by $27,871.35 and the District Attorney's Victim/Witness Assistance Program will benefit by $5,421.88.
 
Reason for Recommendation:  In accordance with Government Code, Sections 50050-50055, individual items were held in trust for more than three years and were not claimed.  Following the Code, the Treasurer-Tax Collector advertised the last known owners of items $15.00 or more and 24 claims were received and approved.  Items of less than $15.00 were not advertised.
 
These funds represent the remainder that was not claimed and are from the departments shown on Attachment I.
 
 
 
Action to be taken following Board approval:  Upon authorization by the Board, the Treasurer-Tax Collector's Office will submit a journal entry to the Auditor-Controller's Office to transfer the funds from the respective funds to the General Fund and the District Attorney's Victim/Witness Program.
