Background: The Human Resources Department, Risk Management Division, occasionally requires the services of outside counsel to represent the County in evaluation, litigation, appeal hearings, and settlement negotiation arising from an employee's application for industrial disability retirement.  Consultant also advises County regarding the legality and advisability of approving or denying industrial disability retirement applications.  The Agreement is for a two-year period, in an amount not to exceed $40,000.
 
Action to be taken following Board approval: Risk Management will forward copy of approved contract to contractor.
