General Services Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Local Agency - State Agreement with the State of California, Department of Transportation, Bicycle Facilities Unit, Division of Local Assistance in the amount of $400,000 to be used for environmental document preparation, design and construction of a Class I bike trail to be located within the Sacramento - Placerville Transportation Corridor between Missouri Flat Road and Forni Road; and recommending Budget Transfer for same increasing revenues and appropriations in the Parks Accumulative Capital Outlay Fund. Background: General Services is currently working with a variety of consultants to prepare plans, specification, cost estimates and environmental documents necessary to bid and construct this project in Summer 2008. This additional funding is needed to ensure that all components of the project can be constructed in single phase.
Reason for Recommendation: On November 14, 2006, Item No. 6, the Board of Supervisors approved the filing of an application for Bicycle Transportation Account Funding in the amount of $400,000 for construction of a Class I bike trail in the Sacramento-Placerville Transportation Corridor between Missouri Flat and Forni Road. At that time, the Board also adopted Resolution 367-2006 to support the application. The grant application was subsequently approved by the State and this action is necessary to execute the agreement and accept the grant.
