Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Contingency will be reduced by $250,000.
Reason for Recommendation: The Public Defender's office is currently involved in the defense of a case where the District Attorney is seeking capital penalty. It is not anticipated that the case will be settled prior to trial; therefore, the Public Defender budget requires additional funding. The requested amount of $250,000 is an estimate. Expenses incurred to date that have been ordered by the Court total approximately $56,000. All requests for payment will be submitted to the Auditor's office with a court order signed by the Judge.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Budget transfer will be processed.
