Background: On May 5, 2007, the Department of General Services entered into an agreement with Environmental Stewardship and Planning to provide specific environmental services on the SPTC Class 1 Bike Path project from Missouri Flat Road to Forni Road. The contract amount was $43,750.00 and was approved under the authority of the Purchasing Agent.

Reason for Recommendation: The addition of environmental permitting services increases the contract amount by $10,340 for a new contract amount of $54,090. On February 12, 2008, Agenda Item #6, the Board approved the acceptance of a grant from the State of California, Department of Transportation, Bicycle Facilities Unit, Division of Local Services in the amount of $400,000. Acceptance of this grant provided additional funding for the project.

Construction of the project is expected to occur in the summer of 2008. The project must be out to bid by June 30, 2008, in order not to jeopardize the Transportation Enhancement (TE) funding of $1.2 million previously awarded to the project.
