Background:
Periodically, technology vendors approach the County to provide testing and evaluation of new products. The vendor benefits by receiving feedback from an experienced and wide-range technology user and the County benefits by gaining knowledge on a product that could be used county-wide. The County is under no obligation to purchase these products at any time during or after the evaluation has been completed.
Reason for Recommendation:
In the past year, Information Technologies has received several products from Dell Marketing including two laser printers and a laptop computer. We have solicited quotes from Dell Marketing in order to place a fair market value to each of these items. Because it is County policy to add all computers and computer related equipment valued over $500 to the County's fixed asset inventory, Information Technologies is asking for their inclusion. Current items will remain in the Information Technologies Department during their useful lives.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
Equipment to be added to the County's main Fixed Asset inventory database by the Auditor-Controller's Office.
