Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There is no fiscal impact. Funds are included in the budget and this amendment does not change the total funding amount.

Background:
On October 25, 2005, the Board of Supervisors awarded Funding Agreement No. 013-DMV-05/06-11 to DOT for Diesel Fleet Retrofits. The original Funding Agreement, in the amount of $487,076 and for the term of October 25, 2005 through October 24, 2006, was to fund the retrofit of thirty four (34) on-road diesel fueled vehicles (vehicles) with the Cleaire Longview emission control device. On September 27, 2006, your Board approved the First Amendment to the Agreement, which extended the project completion date to October 24, 2008, included Cleaire Horizon emission control devices with a cleaning unit and spare filters, and added one vehicle to be retrofitted, for a total of thirty five (35) vehicles. To date, twelve (12) vehicles have been retrofitted with the Cleaire Longview emission control devices and $171,912 has been spent on the project.

The Diesel Fleet Retrofits proposal was prepared using the most current information available at the time of preparation; however, changes in emission control technology and the California Air Resources Board's (CARB) verification process continue to affect the original project.
