Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The current engineer's estimate for the construction phase of this project is estimated at $945,000, which includes an estimated bid of $690,000, supplemental items at $69,000, construction management and materials testing at $117,000, and a contingency of $69,000.

There is no net cost to the County General Fund associated with this agenda item.

Reason for Recommendation:
This is an operational and safety project, aimed at improving the safety for vehicles traveling on Marshall Road, the main route connecting Hwy. 49 with the communities of Garden Valley and Georgetown. This section of Marshall Road features a compound curve with both structural pavement failures and unpaved shoulders, where traffic accidents have resulted in a higher than average traffic accident rate. This project is included in the Department's Five-year Capital Improvement Program, which was approved by your Board in February, 2008.
