Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: This is a zero NCC grant and EDSO expenditures were already budgeted in FY07/08. Adding funding for the City of South Lake Tahoe staffing.
Background: The Sheriff has been participating in the Anti-Drug Abuse Grant for more than a decade. Until 2 years ago, the El Dorado County District Attorney was the lead agency and applicant for this grant. For the past two years, the City of South Lake Tahoe has been the applicant for the grant due to staffing limitations in the DA's Office. The City of South Lake Tahoe was notified of the grant award in September of 2007, but failed to notify the Sheriff's Office until recently.
Reason for Recommendation: The Sheriff's budget needs to reflect the increase in revenue of $78,064 and increase expenditures in the amount of $78,064 for payments made to the City of South Lake Tahoe for .64 FTE Police Detective and .1 FTE Administrative services.
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Auditor will post the attached budget transfer; Sheriff staff will work with Purchasing to encumber $78,064 to the City of South Lake Tahoe.
