Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: Net increase of $124.75 from savings within the current 07/08 General Services Budget.

Background: The Board awarded the construction contract to Golden Bay Fence plus Iron Works , Inc. in the amount of $218,975.00 on May 1, 2007, Agenda Item 12.   Contract Change Order Number 1 was awarded by the Board on February 5, 2008 for $23,512.00 , bringing the project total to $242,487.00.  This second and final Change Order would bring the total final project cost to $244,982.00.

Reason for Recommendation: The increase in project cost is due to installation of 4-foot wide gate needed to access a fire hydrant (required by Fire Department), replacement hinges (so that gate can swing in two directions), and 250 additional access cards for the new security gate. The work has been completed.

Action to be taken following Board approval: The Interim Director of General Services will execute Contract Change Order #2 with the contractor.
