Background: Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS provides short-term rent, mortgage and utility payment assistance for eligible participants and their families utilizing U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Housing Opportunities for Persons with HIV/AIDS. El Dorado County HOPWA (housing assistance) services are subcontracted out to Sierra Foothills AIDS Foundation, a community based agency specializing in services to individuals and families afflicted with AIDS. Sierra Foothills AIDS Foundation maintains all appropriate credentialing and has successfully passed annual site reviews. There is no increase in the FY 07/08 budget as the additional $10,000 will apply to the term of the contract falling within FY 08/09.

Reason for Recommendation: El Dorado and other local rural counties obtain their State sponsored HOPWA funding through Sacramento County.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
1. Public Health Director to sign five (5) originals of attached Amendment and forward to Sacramento County for final execution;
