Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
The current engineer's estimate for the construction phase of this project is estimated at $945,000, which includes an estimated bid of $690,000, supplemental items at $69,000, construction management and materials testing at $117,000, and a contingency of $69,000.

Background:
On April 29, 2008, the Board approved the Marshall Road Roadway Improvements Project's Plans and Specifications and authorized the Department to advertise for construction bids, with the bid opening scheduled for June 19, 2008.

Reason for Recommendation:
The Department is scheduled to open bids for this Project on June 19, 2008. The Department will inform the Board via hardcopy letter to identify the lowest responsive, responsible bidder for the Project.

This is an operational and safety project, aimed at improving the safety of vehicles on Marshall Road, the main route connecting Hwy 49 with the communitites of Garden Valley and Georgetown. This section of Marshall Road features a compound curve with both structural pavement failures and unpaved shoulders, where traffic accidents have resulted in a higher than average traffic accident rate.
