Public Health Department, Animal Services Division inviting the Board to participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for approximately 1:00 p.m. to commemorate the Grand Opening event at the recently renovated South Lake Tahoe Animal Services Shelter at 1120 Shakori Drive, South Lake Tahoe, CA on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Approve.

Background: The shelter, which has served the community in the same location on Shakori Drive in South Lake Tahoe for approximately 40 years, underwent a major remodeling project last year. The renovation of the shelter included expansion of the building by 700 feet with improved floor plan to maximize space; a bigger reception and lobby area; improved parking lots with more parking spaces; improved dog kennels that are more sanitary and less noisy; new housing and adoption rooms for cats; and new quarantine areas for animals that require isolation or medical attention.
A Grand Opening event has been scheduled on June 24, 2008 from 11 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with the ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled at 1:00 p.m.
