Human Resources Department recommending Chairman be authorized to sign Agreement for Services 067-S0911 with Valentina Reiner, dba The Law Offices of Valentina Reiner in an amount not to exceed $75,000 for the term July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 to provide investigative services and other specialized personnel services on an "as requested basis" for said Department.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No Change to Net County Cost, as funds for this service are included in the Human Resources Department budget for the remainder of FY 2007-08. Services to be rendered after June 30, 2008 will be included in the FY 2008-09 Proposed Budget.
Reason for Recommendation: The Human Resources Department has contracted with Valentina Reiner for the provision of investigative services and other specialized personnel services on an "as requested" basis. Ms. Reiner investigates allegations of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation when Human Resources feels it is necessary for such investigations to be conducted by an outside contractor.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Human Resources will forward the executed Agreement to Purchasing and Auditor-Controller's offices. Purchasing will encumber the funds, as necessary.
