Title
Supervisor Briggs recommending waiver of temporary event vendor permit fees for affected vendors participating in the Gold Country Herb Faire in September 2008.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:  Approve.
Body
Reason for Recommendation:
Supervisor Briggs has received a request from the Gold Country Herb Fair Committee to reduce the Temporary Event vendor permit fees to $15 per vendor.  Temporary Event vendor permit fees are set in the Environmental Management Department Fee Resolution at $125 for those vendors selling foods that are handled, mixed or assembled, and $63 for the sale of prepackaged foods.  These fees are assessed on food vendors that do not hold El Dorado County health permits.  There was one vendor of this type at last year's event.

Unfortunately, the Environmental Management Department does not have the authority to reduce the fees. Upon review of the request, the Chief Administrative Officer concurs with the department's conclusion.  As charging a reduced fee will result in higher administrative time and cost, Supervisor Briggs recommends that the fees be waived.

Action to be taken following Board approval: The Clerk will provide a copy of this action to the Environmental Management Department. Staff in the department will work with the Gold Country Herb Faire Committee to waive the fees to affected vendors participating in the event.
