Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: No additional impact. Funds were approved in the departmental budget for FY 2007-08 and have been included in the FY 2008-09 proposed budget request.

Background: This agreement is for continuation of funding to be provided to UC Regents for salary and benefits for one-half of a full time 4-H Youth Development Program Representative.  In past years, the existing agreement was simply amended. UC is requiring a new agreement due to the age of the current amended agreement.

Reason for Recommendation: This position is vital to our youth development program and includes developing projects, programs, activities and resource materials for youth and volunteer 4-H leaders, with emphasis placed on expanding the 4-H Youth Development Program to under-represented clientele. This 50/50 match between the County and UC Regents will continue to provide the position needed to continue and expand our excellent programs.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  Board Chairman to sign the two original amendments keeping one signed copy and returning the other signed copy to the UCCE Department, Attention to Nancy Starr.
